A user has reported his/her Hg8245 firmware upgrade to be failing. There are currently no solutions for this issue, but it is possible the Hg8245 is unusable with the 2.7.18/2.7.27 versions of Firmware Maintainer Tool (FMT) installed on the Ethernet module due to some changes made by Fujitsu in these versions that cause incompatibility between FMT and the Ethernet module. This is a known issue, and a new version of FMT has been submitted to Netgate by Nic on December 15, 2017 to address this issue. Affected users should use the new FMT version when it becomes available. If you are using a newer version of FMT on your Hg8245, but still encounter the same issue, proceed with the below steps: Some users have reported not being able to apply firmware upgrades through ethtool due to an error message reporting ethtool is not available on the system. The upgrade of the Hg8245 is not possible because the COBOOT partition is too small. This can be fixed by increasing the size of the COBOOT partition. Some WAN link issues have been reported after upgrading to Netgate's 2.7.19 firmware due to changes made regarding IPv6 handling. Some users have reported their Hg8245 crashing after upgrading to firmware 2.7.21, due to a regression introduced by this release, which has now been fixed in version 2.7.22. All users that are using an earlier version than 2.7.22 should upgrade immediately. Some users have reported Hg8245 ETHTOOL failures when performing firmware upgrades, especially to 2.7.19, due to changes made by Fujitsu that cause the Ethernet module to not be able to properly identify the module's version (e.g. "Ethernet", "Qsemi", "Brocade" or other) during an upgrade. Some users have reported having to uninstall ethtool first, before upgrading their firmware, in order for ethtool to work again after the firmware upgrade. See the linked article for more information on how to work around this issue.Several users have reported issues related with upgrading their modules. Please note that there has been a recent event which resulted in a temporary suspension of the upgrade service for all Netgate firmware versions below 2.0.16. For more information, please see the linked article.Users have reported problems with upgrading from 2.7.25 to 2.7.26 due to a bug in the FMT which causes the upgrade to fail on several Hg8245 models when JFS is enabled on the network card. The cause of this issue has been recently fixed in version 2.7.27. eccc085e13
